The Resource Distribution Council (RDC) is a program of Harbor Community
Services, a Para-church ministry in the Northwest.
The
RDC originally started in a garage, before moving
to about 1,000 square feet in its sponsoring church
building. Currently, it occupies a twenty thousand square
foot plus warehouse complete with bathrooms and offices. The RDC networks with
many of the largest local and national emergency hunger
programs, such as Emergency Food Network,
and the Salvation Army.
Last year we served 102,000 individuals,
gave out over 1,600,000 pounds of food, and distributed
1,200 holiday baskets.
Statement of purpose/need –
The RDC has adopted the scripture taken from James
1:27 as its statement of purpose. "Religion that
God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this;
to look after orphans and widows in their distress."
Program staff wish to show love by meeting the needs
of families and individuals who live in greater Tacoma.
The volunteer staff will build continuing relationships
with the poor and unloved through the programs, services
and resources offered to the community.
